If you don’t know Chris Clark, you should. He’s a Disc Golf specific lawyer and always shares some of the juiciest updates when it comes to anything legal in our beloved sport.
And as the twilight looms on the 2023 season, sharing some of the intricate mazes of the disc golf legal realm seems appropriate to keep you “in the know” so you can impress your friends! 😉
1. The Prodigy Disc Controversy:
Spotlight on Gannon Burr Location: Federal Court, Atlanta, Georgia
Date of Filing: February 25th
Unfolding the narrative, Prodigy Disc's allegations against Gannon brought forth claims of a premature contract termination.
Dissecting the clauses, it was hinted that Gannon's venture into newer sponsorships and endorsements irked Prodigy.
The community was rife with whispers—some sympathetic, others speculative.
However, by May 15th, the storm seemed to settle.
The curtains were drawn with Prodigy's voluntary dismissal with prejudice.
While the official terms of their mutual agreement are yet under wraps, it’s evident the bond between Gannon and Prodigy has experienced strains, casting shadows over future collaborations.

2. The McCease LLC Confrontation:
Trevor Toenjes Seeks Justice Principal Actors: Dylan Cease & Paul Mcbeth

Date of Filing: March 24th
A rewind to the Grand Canyon Disc Golf Tournament “Throw Down The Mountain” paints a clearer picture.
Toenjes, unsuspecting and defenseless, was directly hit by a disc, with the force allegedly causing grievous harm.
Laying the blame at the feet of Cease and Mcbeth, he avowed their oversight was the root cause and demanded damages to the tune of $50,000+.
The courtroom saga was nothing short of theatrical.
Amidst legal rebuttals, document exchanges, and hearings, McCease LLC launched a counter demand, pushing Toenjes into a defensive stance.
While the common betting odds lean towards an amicable, monetary settlement, the strong-willed disposition of both Cease and Mcbeth remains an intriguing variable.
Cease & McBeth seem to be making a strong statement and setting a precedent for other Disc Golf Tourney players to NEVER pay out someone who signed a waiver of liability.
We will have to keep an eye on the outcome of this one.
3. Natalie Ryan:

Natalie's zealous ambitions in the FPO Division have been punctuated by her legal forays:
a. The OTB Open Legal Spat: Facing PDGA, Disc Golf Pro Tour & Thousand Rated Productions
